Dr. Owens is a native of Columbia, South Carolina. He attended Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC where he graduated with Magna Cum Laude with B.S. degrees in Biology and Spanish. He completed medical school at The Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He then completed his residency at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA where he served as Chief Resident.

He practices general ophthalmology and has a notable interest in cataract and anterior segment surgery. He has given multiple presentations regarding a variety of topics from neuro-ophthalmology to management of ocular and orbital trauma. He has also authored multiple journal articles and always seeks to stay current on the latest surgical and diagnostic guidelines.

Dr. Owens is married to a Charlotte native and they are excited to return closer to their families. In his free time, he enjoys playing guitar, playing golf and exploring the Carolinas with his wife and dog.
